The Infill Housing project emerges after a preliminary study of the Row House typology. After travelling to Savannah, Georgia and documenting entire wards of the city; extensive knowledge was acquired in order to understand how the public and private realms of a city like Savannah is organized.
The objective of the course was to understand the Row house typology, successfully and extensively used in the past in Savannah; and how to transform it and adapt it to the current Urban Housing typology of a specific site in North Miami Beach
The concept of the project emerges after the complete understanding of the row house typology. The particular porches, and clear separation of programmatic areas are the leit-motiv of the new project designed for a complete different situation in North Miami Beach. One of the main characteristics of the transformation is the inclusion of courtyards and terraces adapting the project to the South Florida particular tropical weather. The project complies with the new Miami Beach Zoning Regulations
