Miami Waterkeepers Center emerges by studying how the different layers of the city and nature connect each other in order to create a coherent and direct interaction between them in this particular site (Lummus Park, Miami River).

As a result, the building acts as a platform that creates a vertical and horizontal intersection between the ARTIFICIAL (City) and NATURAL (Lummus Park and the Miami River) incidents of the site.

The project incorporates an adjacent linear park that is connected to the project. The design strategy for the park was to create an elevated PUBLIC BOARDWALK that connects the park with the building, the street, and Lummus Park; while taking the people through different MIAMI NATIVE HABITATS and framing different views to different parts of Miami such as Downtown, Brickell and Greater Miami.
